CPIU was formed by a coallition of computer experts, law enforcement agents and counter-pedophilia experts. The primary goal of the CPIU is to educate the public in how to protect their children and increase general public awareness about this important subject. The CPIU also promotes legislation that stiffens the penalties for such actions. At times, CPIU staff will consult law enforcement agencies regarding active investigations. The CPIU encourages all concerns involving suspicious websites or individuals to be directed to local or federal law enforcement agencies.
